Bio

Chuck Brown (1936-2012), the 'Godfather of Go-Go,' was a Washington, D.C. guitarist, singer, and bandleader who pioneered go-go, a subgenre of funk blending Latin beats, African call-and-response, R&B, and jazz. With his band the Soul Searchers he made go-go the signature sound of the District for more than four decades. The Chuck Brown Band continues to perform his legacy; go-go became the official music of Washington, D.C. in 2020
