For attendees coming down the Northeast Corridor (NYC/Philly/Baltimore), Amtrak into Washington Union Station often beats flying entirely. Union Station is ~2.5 miles from The Wharf: Red Line one stop to Gallery Place, transfer to Green toward Branch Ave, exit Waterfront (or L'Enfant Plaza via Yellow/Green), about 20-25 min total, or a ~10-15 min rideshare straight down 7th St. L'Enfant Plaza is also a VRE (Virginia Railway Express) commuter-rail stop an 8-minute walk from The Wharf per the venue's transit page, but VRE runs weekdays only, so it does not serve the Sat/Sun festival weekend itself

Intercity coaches arrive at the Union Station Bus Terminal (50 Massachusetts Ave NE, above the rail station), ~2.5 miles from The Wharf, the budget option from NYC, Philadelphia, Richmond and the wider region. Same last-mile options as Amtrak arrivals: Red Line to Gallery Place then Green Line to Waterfront, or a short rideshare

One of the easiest airport-to-venue runs anywhere: DCA has its own Metro station (Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport, Blue/Yellow lines) connected to the terminals by walkway, and the Yellow Line runs DIRECT to L'Enfant Plaza, four stops, no transfer. From L'Enfant Plaza the festival's own FAQ says the entrance is 'less than a 10-minute walk' (south on 7th St SW), or take the free blue Wharf neighborhood shuttle from the Maryland Ave exit, which the festival FAQ says runs to The Wharf (800 Maine Ave SW, near CVS) every 10 minutes. Alternative: Yellow/Green to Waterfront station (Green Line), one block from The Wharf via M St/Maine Ave, also under 10 minutes' walk per the festival FAQ. Metrobus routes 52, 74, P6, V1 and W9 stop near the festival entrance per the FAQ. Pay with SmarTrip or tap contactless credit/debit; the 2026 Wharf weekend falls on Sat/Sun Sept 5-6, when WMATA's flat weekend fare applies

DCA has 24/7 taxi stands outside Terminals A/B/C and designated ride-app pickup zones at each terminal (per the airport's official ground-transportation pages). The Wharf is only ~4 miles up the George Washington Parkway/I-395 from DCA, one of the shortest airport runs of any US festival. the festival FAQ itself says 'ridesharing (Uber, Lyft, Taxi) or public transportation is highly recommended' over driving. Drop-off is regular curbside around Maine Ave SW/Wharf St SW. Scenic alternative worth knowing: DCA is ~10 min from Old Town Alexandria, and City Cruises' Potomac Water Taxi runs Old Town-to-Wharf boats into Transit Pier, a splurge arrival, not a cost saver

Short-stay inventory closest to the venue sits in Southwest Waterfront itself (condo units in the Wharf-adjacent towers), with deeper stock across Navy Yard, Capitol Hill and downtown, all one short Metro/rideshare hop away. The 2026 Wharf weekend (Sept 5-6) is the Saturday/Sunday of Labor Day weekend, a peak DC leisure weekend, so expect holiday-weekend pricing and earlier sell-through on walkable SW units than a normal September weekend

No camping in the District, The Wharf is a dense mixed-use waterfront with zero overnight-camping option. Hipcamp inventory for a DC trip is rural Maryland (and northern Virginia) private-land tent sites, cabins and glamping, typically 45 min-1.5 h out toward the Chesapeake, Southern Maryland or the Catoctin foothills, a drive-in alternative to a hotel, not a walkable substitute, and an awkward pairing with a late-night urban jazz fest.
