Bio

Cymande are a British funk band formed in London in 1971 by bassist Steve Scipio and guitarist Patrick Patterson, with members drawn from several Caribbean nations. They mixed funk, soul, reggae, jazz and African and calypso influences into a style they called "nyah-rock," releasing three albums before splitting in 1974. Rediscovered through hip-hop sampling, they reformed in the 2010s and released the album Renascence in 2025
