Da Brat (born Shawntae Harris in 1974 in Chicago) is an American rapper who was discovered by producer Jermaine Dupri and signed to his So So Def label. Her 1994 debut album Funkdafied went platinum, making her the first female solo rapper to achieve that certification, and she has received two Grammy nominations.
