Emmylou Harris is an American singer and songwriter born in 1947 in Birmingham, Alabama, celebrated for moving fluidly among country, folk, rock, and Americana. She began in folk music before collaborating with Gram Parsons, and launched a long solo career with 1975's Pieces of the Sky. A multiple Grammy winner, she was elected to the Country Music Hall of Fame in 2008.
