Freddie Gibbs, born Fredrick Jamel Tipton in Gary, Indiana, is an American rapper known for a technically dense flow across gangsta rap and Midwest hip-hop styles. After being dropped by Interscope Records, he built critical acclaim through collaborative albums with producer Madlib (Piñata, Bandana) and producer The Alchemist (Alfredo, which earned a Grammy nomination for Best Rap Album). His 2022 album Soul Sold Separately peaked at number 11 on the Billboard 200
