Happy Mondays are an English alternative dance and rock band formed in Salford, Greater Manchester, in 1980, fronted by brothers Shaun and Paul Ryder. They became one of the defining acts of the late-1980s "Madchester" scene, fusing indie rock with funk and acid house. Their 1990 album Pills 'n' Thrills and Bellyaches was among the era's most commercially successful records.
