Primus is an American rock band formed in 1984 in El Sobrante, California, led by bassist and vocalist Les Claypool. Known for their eccentric, funk-inflected style, the band has been variously described as funk metal and alternative rock. Claypool has remained the group's central creative force throughout its history.
