James Taylor is an American singer-songwriter known for his folk and soft-rock style, born in 1948 and raised in North Carolina. He broke through in 1970 with "Fire and Rain" and topped the charts in 1971 with "You've Got a Friend," and his Greatest Hits album has been certified Diamond.
