Bio
Jimmie Dale Gilmore is a Texas singer-songwriter, born in Amarillo and raised in Lubbock, known for a high, keening voice and a fusion of traditional honky-tonk with lyrics colored by Eastern mysticism and philosophy. In 1972 he co-founded The Flatlanders with Joe Ely and Butch Hancock, a group later credited as fathers of the alt-country movement. His solo albums, including 1991's After Awhile, earned three Grammy nominations, and Rolling Stone named him Country Artist of the Year three years running
