Billed as the Four Corners region's premier Celtic event, the Aztec Highland Games and Celtic Festival gathers by the banks of the Animas River in shady Riverside Park, where the Southwest meets the Scottish Highlands. The weekend runs full Scottish heavy athletics, from the caber toss and sheaf toss to the Braemar stone and Scottish hammer, alongside pipe and drum bands, Highland dance and three stages of live Celtic music

Heavy athletics
The heavy athletics run the traditional Celtic events, including the caber toss, sheaf toss, Braemar stone, Scottish hammer throw and weight for distance and height; everyone is encouraged to enter, and competitors must wear a kilt to compete, with rentals available
Pipe bands & Highland dance
Pipe and drum bands such as Southwest Skye Pipes and Drums perform, alongside Highland dance competitions and pipe and drum exhibitions
Clans & genealogy
Clan tents let attendees learn about Scottish clans and research the origins of their own surnames and family
Taking part
Three stages carry live Celtic music through the weekend, from traditional tunes to Celtic rock, plus food and merchandise vendors on the banks of the Animas River
