Staged at the foot of Wildcat Mountain on the ground of an early Kentucky Civil War engagement, the Battle of Camp Wildcat reenactment fills a rural Laurel County field with cannon, cavalry, and infantry as Tennessee Confederates attack the Union base camp. Presented each October by the volunteer Laurel Home Guards, the weekend pairs the Saturday and Sunday battles with a Friday school day, living-history camps open to the public, appearances by costumed figures such as General Lee and Abraham Lincoln, a barn dance, night cannon firing, and a Sunday memorial service on the battlefield itself
