The experience
What's special
The Boise Scottish Heritage Festival and Highland Games brings the soul of Scotland to Expo Idaho in the Boise area each September, run by the Scottish Society of Southwest Idaho. The weekend pairs traditional Highland Games such as the caber toss, hammer throw, stone put and sheaf toss with the Great Highland Bagpipes, Highland dancing, genealogy and an opening Ceilidh open to all
Last time around

The games
Heavy athletics
The festival runs traditional Highland Games including the caber toss, hammer throw, stone put and sheaf toss, which spectators can watch or take part in
Pipe bands & Highland dance
The Great Highland Bagpipes, pipe and drum performances and Highland dancers feature across the weekend
Clans & genealogy
Genealogy and Scottish heritage sit alongside the athletics for visitors exploring their family history
Taking part
The weekend opens with a traditional Ceilidh, a Scottish social gathering where everyone is welcome to dance and sing along, with Scottish food, animals and vendors across the grounds
