What's special
Ragnarok is the famous week-long annual national battle event of Dagorhir Battle Games, the oldest and one of the largest foam-weapon live-action combat organizations in the United States, founded in 1977. For one week each year, chapters from around the country have gathered - historically at Cooper's Lake Campground in Slippery Rock, Pennsylvania - to camp together, fight in full-contact battles and tournaments, and share medieval arts and sciences and campfire socializing. The most recent edition listed on the official calendar has passed, and no upcoming edition has been announced.

Costumes & what to wear
Do I need a costume?
Garb is mandatory for everyone attending Ragnarok, including non-combatants, so first-timers should plan on at least a simple, non-modern outfit. Many participants make their own garb, and a cottage industry of vendors also sells garb, weapons, and armor
Costume rules
Garb (a costume appropriate to a medieval/fantasy setting) is required on the battlefield and strongly encouraged elsewhere. Minimum garb is a tunic, shirt, dress, or vest of crotch length or longer with non-obtrusive pants/skirt/leggings and non-obtrusive footwear; obviously modern clothing (sweatpants, pajama pants, modern skirts) is not acceptable
Weapons policy
A full-contact foam-weapon battle game; all weapons, shields, and armor are checked for safety before battles, and safety is stringently enforced. No prior martial-arts or combat experience is required to participate
Joining in
Attendees adopt a medieval or fantasy persona and take part in full-contact foam-weapon battles, capture-the-flag scenarios, tournaments, and 'medieval arts and sciences' (crafting garb, weapons, armor, art, songs, and stories)

How do I get to Dagorhir Ragnarok?

If a future edition returns to Cooper's Lake, the campground is roughly a 50-mile, one-hour drive north of PIT via I-79. Rideshare pickup at PIT is across the road from Door 7 on the Ground Level; taxis queue outside baggage claim. There is no transit, rail, or event shuttle out to Slippery Rock, so a car covers the whole trip
