Fiesta Mexicana is one of Grand Rapids' oldest ethnic festivals, staged since 1969 (its 57th year in 2026) by the Mexican Heritage Association of West Michigan at downtown's Calder Plaza. Always free, it fills three days with mariachi from the main stage, folklorico dancing in the street, El Grito de Independencia, 40-plus food and craft vendors, a lowrider show and family activities, functioning as a multigenerational cultural homecoming for West Michigan's Mexican-American community

Gerald R. Ford International Airport (GRR) is ~13 mi southeast of downtown. The Rapid's Route 27 connects the GRR terminal to downtown Grand Rapids (Monday-Friday); once downtown, the free DASH circulator loops the core past the Monroe Avenue / Calder Plaza area, putting you a short walk from the venue. Note Route 27 has limited weekend/evening service, so a Saturday or Sunday festival-day arrival may be better served by a rideshare
