What's special
Flying Island is a four-day, multi-venue music, food and art festival held each autumn in Marfa, a remote arts town in far West Texas, set against the backdrop of the Chihuahuan desert. Organizers describe the programming as 'genre defiant', curating an eclectic bill across a dozen-plus venues in Marfa proper rather than a single-genre lineup. The festival launched to fill the gap left when the long-running Trans-Pecos Festival of Music + Love went on hiatus
