The experience

What's special

Glasgow Lands Scottish Festival is billed as the only Scottish festival in Massachusetts and the second largest in New England, staged each July at Look Park in Florence (Northampton). The single-day festival packs in Highland athletics, 27 competing pipe bands with hundreds of pipers and drummers at massed ceremonies, Highland and Irish dance, a Clan Village, stone lifting, whisky tasting and main-stage music from Albannach and Seven Nations

What people love

Visitors are drawn by the massed pipe bands, the Clan Village and the breadth of Scottish programming across a single day. Attendees describe it as a fun experience shared with friends, and reviewers called it an amazing festival that stayed a blast even when the rain started

Last time around

The 31st annual Glasgow Lands Scottish Festival returned to Look Park on Saturday, July 18, 2026, running 9 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. with 27 competing pipe bands, massed opening and closing ceremonies, Highland athletics, a Calling of the Clans, sheep herding and headline sets from Albannach and Seven Nations

The games

Heavy athletics

The Highland Athletic Games run amateur, professional and open or professional divisions, and a public Stone Lifting Try-It station lets visitors test the Glasgow Lands lifting stone and the Clach Fear Alba testing stone shipped from Scotland

Pipe bands & Highland dance

The festival fields 27 pipe bands with 600 to 700 pipers and drummers at massed opening and closing ceremonies, alongside a Pipe Band Competition, solo piping and drumming, a Drum Major Competition and the EUSPBA Northeast Branch Amateur Drumming Championships

Clans & genealogy

More than 20 clans march in the Calling of the Clans at opening ceremonies, and a Clan Village with a genealogist helps visitors connect with their Scottish family history

Taking part

Beyond the field, the day offers a Celtic Pub, whisky tasting, border collie sheep herding, Highland cattle, historic Highlanders reenactors, historical swordsmanship, harp circles, spinners and weavers, and main-stage music from Albannach, Seven Nations, Haggis X-1 and Pipe Dream
