What's special

Gallabrae, the Greenville Scottish Games, is a Memorial Day weekend celebration of Scottish and Celtic heritage held at Furman University in Greenville, South Carolina, a region with one of the highest concentrations of Scots-Irish descent in the country. Begun in 2006, the Games bring heavy athletics with kilted competitors, piping and drumming competitions, massed pipers at the opening ceremony, clan tents and tartan, a British car show and a downtown Great Scot! Parade, with the next Games confirmed for May 29, 2027

What people love

Attendees describe the Greenville Scottish Games as a ton of fun with a lot to do, from live music, pipe bands and craft tents to watching the athletes throw heavy stones and the caber. Regulars advise arriving late morning, bringing sun protection and a cold drink, trying a Scottish dish for lunch, and catching the opening ceremony for the sight of many pipers at once and the joint military drills
