The experience

What's special

The Middle Tennessee Highland Games & Celtic Festival brings full Scottish heavy athletics to Sanders Ferry Park in Hendersonville, just outside Nashville, each September. Athletes compete in the stone put, caber toss, hammer throw, sheaf toss and weight throws across men's, women's and masters classes, alongside a bagpipe competition, a Highland dance competition, Scottish and Irish dancers, three stages of live Celtic music, a Celtic market, scotch tastings and a kids area

What people love

Attendees say the athletic games are impressive to watch, but some push back on the cost of general admission for a public-park event and on long waits for food and drink from a limited number of vendors
