What happened to Monterey International Pop Festival?
The Monterey International Pop Festival ran June 16-18, 1967, organized by Lou Adler and John Phillips of the Mamas and the Papas, and featured the first major American appearances of Jimi Hendrix and the Who alongside Janis Joplin, Otis Redding, the Grateful Dead, and others. It was a single three-day event and was not repeated as an annual festival.
It last ran in 1967.
