The Niagara Celtic Heritage Festival & Highland Games is billed as New York's largest Celtic festival, a two-day celebration of Irish, Scottish and Welsh heritage at the Niagara County Fairgrounds in Lockport that draws about 12,000 people. Set across five themed regions, it features Highland Games heavy athletics such as the caber toss and Braemar stone, nine pipe bands, Highland dancing, a Clan Village with 35 clans, living history, birds of prey and sheep-dog demonstrations

Heavy athletics
The Highland Games run heavy events including the Braemar stone, caber toss, sheaf toss and stone throws, with amateur and professional divisions for men and women and more than 60 athletes competing

Nine pipe bands take part, including the 96th Highlanders, the MacKenzie Highlanders, Celtic Spirit and the Caledonian Pipe Band of Buffalo, alongside Highland and Irish dancers
Clans & genealogy
A Clan Village hosts 35 Scottish clans and Celtic societies, with a Calling of the Clans ceremony during the weekend

Attractions include birds-of-prey and sheep-dog demonstrations, blacksmithing, a haggis-eating competition, a petting farm, a Wee Folk Shire for children and Celtic College workshops
