Oklahoma Renaissance Festival

The Oklahoma Renaissance Festival is a large spring renaissance faire staged at the Castle of Muskogee, a permanent castle attraction in eastern Oklahoma an easy drive from Tulsa, Oklahoma City and Northwest Arkansas. Reaching its 31st annual edition in 2026, it runs Saturdays and Sundays plus Memorial Day from late April through the end of May, with a different theme each weekend - opening in the fae Land of Avalon, then a French court, a Spanish Armada and pirates weekend, a Scottish and Celtic weekend, a German-court weekend closing with a Memorial Day parade, and a Spice Roads finale. Across many stages it packs in jousting, jugglers, birds-of-prey demonstrations, human chess, magicians, musicians and dancers, an enchanted forest with fairies and a mermaid, artisan shopping and a full slate of ticketed daytime and evening events from Royal Tastings to a Masque Ball.

Regulars describe it as a beloved annual tradition and one of the best renaissance faires in the region, singling out the sheer volume of shows, music, roaming characters and craftsmanship as what makes it worth the trip - many go every year, some over multiple weekends, and it is repeatedly recommended even to those who do not usually go for medieval or roleplay themes. The enchanted forest, birds-of-prey show and children's quests draw particular praise from families. Common caveats: food is theme-park priced and hit-or-miss with famously long lines (a big meal beforehand is standard advice), on-site ATMs are unreliable so cash matters, the grounds turn muddy in rain, and it is hot with only patchy shade, so sunscreen and close-toed shoes are recommended.
