The experience

What's special

Scotfest Oklahoma is Broken Arrow's Scottish festival and Highland games, staged at Broken Arrow Events Park with heavy athletics, massed pipe bands, Highland dance, more than 40 clan tents, whisky tastings and Celtic rock bands. The 2026 event, set for September 18 to 20, is billed by organizers as the festival's final edition, a farewell weekend returning after the 2025 event was cancelled when its equipment trailer was stolen. It packs family daytime activities, world-championship-level athletics and an evening party into a single ticket

What people love

Attendees consistently point to the Highland games, the Celtic and Irish music, and the Scottish food as highlights, with the meat pies and the range of clans, vendors and dance drawing repeat visitors. A recurring caution is the September Oklahoma heat, which can climb into the 90s during the daytime athletics

The games

Heavy athletics

The games feature Highland heavy athletics with caber toss, stone put and hammer throw, billed by organizers as including two world championships alongside a national pipe band championship and armored combat

Pipe bands & Highland dance

The weekend includes a national pipe band championship with competing pipe bands, championship piping and drumming, and Highland dance competitions across youth to championship levels

Clans & genealogy

More than 40 clan tents offer genealogy research to help visitors trace their Scottish roots, and Sunday closes with a Kirkin' o' the Tartans service

Taking part

Alongside the competitions, the festival runs kids' miniature Highland games, premium whisky tastings, a craft beer garden, living history and Celtic rock bands across three stages into the evening

Accessibility & comfort

What the organiser or venue publishes about getting around, and what they do not.

Disability access

Scotfest Oklahoma publishes an Accessibility block on its Hours and Policies page and more detail on its Parking and Shuttles page. The festival is at Broken Arrow Events Park. Terrain: the organiser says the festival grounds are mostly flat and accessible, and elsewhere describes paved pathways; there are grassy areas where picnic blankets are suggested.

Read the full notes

Parking and shuttles matter here because general parking is off site: all general festival parking is at Northeastern State University at $5 in advance or $10 at the gate, with a free continuous shuttle to Broken Arrow Events Park.

ADA parking is different and better placed. It is on site at Broken Arrow Events Park with reserved spaces, the closest spots to the main entrance, at the same $5 advance or $10 gate price, requires a valid accessible parking permit, and needs no shuttle.

If you do use a shuttle, the organiser states that all shuttles accommodate wheelchairs and mobility devices; shuttles are free, first come first served with no reservations, and also serve BassPro area hotels every 2 hours.

There are reserved accessible viewing areas at the main stages for wheelchair users and companions, and accessible restroom facilities throughout the grounds. On companion tickets, the organiser says assistants may receive complimentary admission with advance notice, so contact them ahead.

Service animals are welcome throughout the venue and must be harnessed, leashed or tethered; emotional support animals are not treated as service animals. A designated rideshare pickup and dropoff zone is near the main entrance.

Nothing is published about ASL or interpretation. Contact [email protected] in advance with specific accessibility needs

Quiet & supportThe Hours and Policies page lists Sensory Considerations under Additional Accessibility Services and says quiet zones are available for sensory sensitive guests. It does not give a location or opening hours, so confirm with [email protected] in advance
