The experience
What's special
The Seattle Tattoo Expo fills the Seattle Center Exhibition Hall for a weekend built around working tattoo artists rather than a stage of guest speakers, now in its twentieth-plus year of spotlighting the region's shops. Attending artists book their own appointments, with some taking walk-ups throughout the weekend, and a ticket to the expo is required even for those with a tattoo appointment already set. Beyond the tattoo booths, the weekend runs tattoo contests and burlesque performances on a main stage, a vendor village, a concessions area, and a beer and spirits garden for guests 21 and over. The event is family friendly, with free admission for children under 12 with an adult, though only service animals are allowed inside. The organiser gives a clear accessibility route for visitors using mobility devices: the nearest garage carries 67 accessible stalls, ramps run from street level down to the below-grade showroom entrance, and a staffed accessibility point near the Box Office helps with the move between the showroom floor and the upper courtyard where the vendor village and food trucks sit
What happens on the floor
Pieces go on in the open, start to finish. You can watch, and talk to artists between clients.
Finished and same-day work is judged on stage in named categories, usually late in the day.
Machines, inks, aftercare, art and clothing. Aimed at artists, but open to anyone through the door.
Stage acts between judging: sideshow, suspension and burlesque are common. Worth knowing before you sit down with a child.
Who is tattooing
No artist roster has been published for this edition, so there is no way to pick an artist in advance from the official pages.

Accessibility & comfort
What the organiser or venue publishes about getting around, and what they do not.
The organiser directs ADA questions to Seattle Center's own accessibility page, and separately describes its own access route: the nearest garage has 67 accessible stalls, ramps lead down from street level to the below-grade Exhibition Hall entrance, and an accessibility volunteer is stationed at the check-in desk by the Box Office to help attendees move between the showroom floor and the upper courtyard
Confirm your specific needs with the organiser's access team before you travel.
