The experience
What's special
Tommy's pairs a large tattoo floor with a full weekend entertainment schedule at the Mohegan Sun Expo Center. Visitors can arrive for doors and tattoo registration, browse featured and attending artists and vendors, watch Tattoo of the Day and the main tattoo competition, and stay for live music, sideshows, a Pin-Up Pageant and after parties. Tattoo appointments are arranged with individual artists rather than a central desk, and walk ups depend on each artist. Day admission is $25, a three day pass is $50, and children 12 and under enter free
What happens on the floor
The core format: artists take a booth for the weekend and work on the open floor, with the public walking through.
Pieces go on in the open, start to finish. You can watch, and talk to artists between clients.
Finished and same-day work is judged on stage in named categories, usually late in the day.
Machines, inks, aftercare, art and clothing. Aimed at artists, but open to anyone through the door.
Stage acts between judging: sideshow, suspension and burlesque are common. Worth knowing before you sit down with a child.
Getting tattooed here
Admission gets you through the door, not into a chair. Tattoo work is arranged with the artist, not with the show.
Featured artist listings provide contact links for booking ahead. The organizer says artists may book up quickly; if an artist does not respond, try another artist or speak with them in person during the event

Who is tattooing
The official site advertises 600 plus professional tattoo artists.
