The Southwest Missouri Celtic Heritage Festival & Highland Games is a two-day celebration in Buffalo, Missouri, held the weekend after Labor Day at the Buffalo City Park and Dallas County Fairgrounds. Hosted by the Buffalo Area Chamber of Commerce, it honors the Celtic immigrants who settled the Buffalo Head Prairie, with a Highland Games of caber toss, stone and hammer, a Clan Row with genealogy resources, traditional music with bagpipes and fiddles, Highland cattle and a free Friday evening

Heavy athletics
The Highland Games feature traditional competition classes including the Braemar and open stone toss, weight for distance, weight over bar, heavy and light hammer, sheaf toss and caber toss, with both men and women competing

Clan Row features many clans with origins in the Celtic regions, providing a living history of each clan from Scotland to America and resources for genealogical study
Taking part
The festival also brings traditional music with bagpipes, fiddles, bodhrans and Gaelic vocals, vendors, cultural demonstrations, Highland cattle and family activities, with free admission on Friday evening
