The State Fair of Virginia fills The Meadow Event Park in Doswell, off I-95 Exit 98, each autumn with livestock and agricultural competitions, a carnival midway, food, shopping and main stage concerts. The 2026 fair, themed Virginia's Best of Show, ran September 25 to October 4; the 2027 dates have not been announced.
How it works
Gate admission was $16.50 in 2026, with $3 off for military members and veterans plus one guest at the gate. The main gate and alcohol stands take cards only, while food stands and the midway take cash, and reverse ATMs turn cash into a card. Parking in the main lots is free, with trams to the gate, and same-day re-entry works with a hand stamp until 9 PM on weeknights and 10 PM on Fridays and Saturdays. Bags are checked and metal detectors are used at the gates. Midway rides are inspected by an independent state-certified inspector on opening day and daily before they run, and each ride posts its own height and age rules.
