The experience

What's special

The Tallahassee Highland Games are Florida's Scottish and Celtic strength and heritage festival, held each February at Apalachee Regional Park in Tallahassee. Across two days the games bring caber toss, stone put and hammer throw, the U.S. National Caber Championship, bagpipes and Highland dancing, clan rows preserving family names and tartans, highland cattle, blacksmiths, falconry and a whisky tasting, and the 2026 edition drew more than 4,600 attendees

What people love

Regulars call it a blast and a lot of fun to watch, singling out the food, the music you can enjoy from a blanket on the grass, and the highland cattle, and many say they would go again. Some note there can be down time between events, and that the open February setting can bring strong sun, cold or rain, so attendees plan for the weather

Last time around

The 2026 games, the fourth of the current run, took place February 6 and 7 at Apalachee Regional Park and drew more than 4,600 attendees, 65 or more competitors and 21 registered clans, with Highland athletics, pipes, dancing, clan tents and highland cattle
