The experience
What's special
Villain Arts runs its Tampa tattoo convention inside the Tampa Convention Center at 333 S Franklin St, a 600,000 square foot waterfront venue in downtown Tampa. The weekend follows the touring circuit's format: a day pass or three day pass sold at the door, free entry for children under 12, and a floor of working tattoo stations rather than a stage of guest speakers. Past Tampa lineups have drawn a deep bench of touring and regional artists, Ink Master alumni among them, alongside International Artists and sideshow-style entertainers who perform between tattoo sessions. Parking is straightforward: the Convention Center's own garage charges by the hour with a $15 daily cap, and the nearby Pam Iorio and Fort Brooke garages, all three run by the City of Tampa, charge the same rate if the main garage fills. Visitors flying in or staying downtown have two official hotel options a short walk from the venue, the Westin Tampa Waterside on Harbour Island and the Hyatt Place Tampa Downtown on North Florida Avenue, both offered through the organiser's discounted booking link
What happens on the floor
The core format: artists take a booth for the weekend and work on the open floor, with the public walking through.
Pieces go on in the open, start to finish. You can watch, and talk to artists between clients.
Finished and same-day work is judged on stage in named categories, usually late in the day.
Machines, inks, aftercare, art and clothing. Aimed at artists, but open to anyone through the door.
Stage acts between judging: sideshow, suspension and burlesque are common. Worth knowing before you sit down with a child.
Who is tattooing
No artist roster has been published for this edition, so there is no way to pick an artist in advance from the official pages.
