The experience

What's special

The Utah Renaissance Faire is a nonprofit Renaissance faire presented by Utah Valley Arts and billed as Utah's largest, held over a single three-day weekend at Mt. Nebo Botanical Farm in Mona, in central Utah. The 2026 edition, its 14th annual, runs October 16-18. Set on open grassy farm grounds, the Faire centers on jousting, full-contact armored combat (buhurt) from the Invictus Knightingales in historically based armor, harp music from The Harp Twins, plus acrobats, wandering actors and bards, a fairy realm, mermaids and pirates. It is a family-oriented event; note that, in keeping with Utah, the Faire does not sell alcohol.

What people love

Attendees who visited the Mona location praise the setting and the quality of the artisans, calling it grassy, spacious and well done, and single out the jousting and armored combat as highlights that make it feel special. The most common gripes are that the Faire runs only a single weekend, which makes bad weather hard to avoid, and that it can be very windy on the open farm; a former volunteer also felt some of the old volunteer-guild energy has faded. Some also note the absence of alcohol compared with faires elsewhere.

Last time around

Recent attendee accounts of the Mona lavender-farm site describe a genuinely good year with plenty of good-quality artisans and jousting worth the visit, tempered by strong wind on the exposed grounds and the constraint of a single-weekend run.
