The experience

What's special

The Vermont Renaissance Faire is a family-friendly, one-weekend outdoor faire held every June at the Champlain Valley Exposition in Essex Junction, produced by Vermont Gatherings (Wolfgaard Productions), which also runs an indoor Winter Renaissance Faire each February. The 2026 edition marks its 10th anniversary on June 27-28 and gathers over 150 medieval-inspired artisans, Vermont mead and cider makers, and local chefs, alongside musicians, dancers, acrobats, aerialists, armored combat, encampments and jousting. Themed around Vikings, fairies, knights, jesters, pirates and even a unicorn, the 2026 Faire also brings special guest Adrian Paul of Highlander for Sword Experience combat classes. Parking is free, kids under 6 are free, and the Faire is one leg of a New England Triple Crown Challenge with the New Hampshire and Maine faires.

What people love

Casual reviewers rate the Faire highly and praise the atmosphere, the entertaining actors and how good it is with kids, with vendors and sponsors describing it as well organized and run by genuine people. Seasoned faire-hoppers temper that, describing it as a smaller Faire catered more toward locals, though they still credit a joust that is quite good for its size. The sibling indoor Winter Renaissance Faire is a beloved way to break up the long Vermont winter.

Last time around

The most recent editions drew warm reviews for atmosphere, performers and family friendliness, with an aggregate rating around 4.5-4.8 across platforms; a faire-focused reviewer ranked it lower as a smaller, locally focused Faire while still praising the joust.
