Billed as Southern California's premier Viking and Nordic-heritage festival, the Vista Viking Festival fills the Antique Gas & Steam Engine Museum grounds each third weekend of September with 'history, myth, battle, music, food, and community.' Now in its 24th year and themed 'The Year of Loki' for 2026, it offers live music from 9+ bands, flaming-axe fire exhibitions, a professional stonelifting world-championship qualifier, an interactive Viking village of 30+ craftsmen, supervised axe/spear/archery ranges, live blacksmithing, Viking battle demonstrations and a Viking encampment, plus 30+ local meads and beers - all run by volunteers to benefit the Norway Hall Foundation and local youth programs.

Do I need a costume?
You do not need a costume, comfortable clothes are fine and many guests come in everyday wear, though a large share turn out in Viking garb and the organizers say the experience is 'heightened and more fun when you come dressed to play.' Viking garb is welcome but not required. Weapons worn as part of garb must be safe and peace-tied (a scabbard/sheath tied or locked so it can't be easily removed); no firearms are permitted. Shirts and footwear must be worn at all times, and attire must be family-appropriate

Lots open at 8am and tend to fill by noon, so plan ahead. Partial parking proceeds support Guajome Park Academy and Vista High School athletics
