The experience

What's special

The Wilson County, Tennessee State Fair fills the James E. Ward Agricultural Center in Lebanon for ten days in August, billing itself as the best ten days of the year. Its program mixes 4-H and FFA competitions, livestock shows, motorsports and a carnival midway with concerts included in admission. In 2026 the fair celebrated America 250 with the theme Tennessee Voices and Volunteers, made forestry its featured agricultural commodity, and brought RaeLynn and Linda Davis with Lang Scott to the Entertainment Stage. The 2027 dates have not been announced.

How it works

In 2026 adult gate admission was $17, children 6 to 12 paid $7.25 and children 5 and under got in free, with a $50 season ticket for all ten days and $10 entry for seniors on Tuesdays. Carnival armbands are sold only at the fair, at $33 Monday to Thursday and $38 Friday to Sunday. The gates open at 4 PM on weekdays, 10 AM on Saturdays and noon on Sundays. A clear bag policy limits bags to clear ones no larger than 12 by 6 by 12 inches or small clutches. General parking is free, with trams to the gates.

Who it suits

It suits families, 4-H and livestock fans, and anyone who wants concerts, motorsports and carnival rides in a single ten-day fair. Weekday gates opened at 4 p.m. in 2026, so full days out belong to the weekend.

Getting there

How do I get to Wilson County, Tennessee State Fair?

Most visitors drive to the James E. Ward Agricultural Center on East Baddour Parkway in Lebanon, where general parking is free and open to everyone with no pass to buy in advance. New in 2026, trams run between the lots and the gates, so a far space costs little walking. In 2026 a free shuttle also ran from a university football lot and from downtown near the courthouse, and rideshare drivers could be sent to Gate 1 for the shortest walk. The parking gates close half an hour before the admission gates, so late arrivals should allow for it. See the options below for other ways to arrive.

What to bring

A ten-day August fair on a county agricultural center, with metal detectors at the gates and a strict clear bag rule. These are the 2026 rules; check that they still apply for 2027.

Clear bags onlyOnly clear bags, a one-gallon freezer bag or a small clutch get through the gates, and every bag is searched. Diaper bags with a baby and medically necessary items are inspected and tagged.
Full rule

Clear plastic, vinyl or PVC bags up to 12 x 6 x 12 inches (a logo up to 4.5 x 3.4 inches is allowed on one side); a one-gallon clear freezer bag; or a small clutch up to 4.5 x 6.5 inches, with or without a handle or strap.

Leave the extras at homeEveryone goes through a metal detector and the fair encourages leaving unnecessary items behind. Weapons are banned even for permit holders, drones are prohibited with citations for violators, and no outside food or drink comes in.
Rain or shineThe fair runs rain or shine with no refunds or rain checks, and events go ahead subject to conditions of nature. Pack a light rain layer for the outdoor midway and plan an indoor stop or two.
