The experience

What's special

Youmacon is Detroit's anime and pop culture convention, held every year on Halloween weekend at Huntington Place in downtown Detroit. Running since 2005 and now drawing over 14,000 unique visitors annually, it has been voted Best Anime Convention in Metro Times' Best of Detroit Readers' Picks every year since 2018. The 2026 edition runs October 29 through November 1, with convention hours stretching from 10 AM to 1 AM on Friday and Saturday

What people love

The guest list pairs English and Japanese voice actors (Marina Inoue, Hikaru Midorikawa, Robbie Daymond, Lex Lang) with musical guests spanning nerdcore rap, DJ sets and a Transformers-costumed rock band (Cybertronic Spree), alongside a large tabletop and video gaming footprint (13,000 and 40,000 square feet respectively) and a Saturday-night Integrated Cosplay Contest that doubles as the USA preliminary for the international Cosplay World Masters and Pop Culture Hiroshima competitions, with a detailed prop and weapons policy covering everything from lightsabers to fake arrows
