Antonio Sánchez is a Mexican jazz drummer and composer, born November 1, 1971 in Mexico City. He began drumming as a child, studied at Berklee College of Music and the New England Conservatory, and became known for an 18-year tenure as drummer in the Pat Metheny Group. He composed the drum-based score for the 2014 film Birdman, for which he won a Grammy Award for Best Score Soundtrack for Visual Media.
