Bio
Leonidas Kavakos is a Greek violinist and conductor, born October 30, 1967 in Athens into a musical family, and recognized across the world as an artist of rare quality acclaimed for his matchless technique and integrity. He began the violin at five, studied at the Hellenic Conservatory with Stelios Kafantaris, and took master classes with Josef Gingold at Indiana University via an Onassis Foundation scholarship. He has won the Sibelius, Paganini, Naumburg, and Indianapolis competitions and was named Gramophone Artist of the Year in 2014
