The Lonesome River Band is an American bluegrass group from Virginia, formed in the early 1980s and known for tight harmonies and traditional-rooted instrumentation. The band is led by banjoist Sammy Shelor, a multiple-time IBMA Banjo Player of the Year, and its 1991 album "Carrying the Tradition" is regarded as a bluegrass landmark.
