Marc-Andre Hamelin is a Canadian virtuoso pianist and composer, born September 5, 1961 in Montreal, Quebec, world-renowned for his effortless virtuosity and his intrepid exploration of the rarities of the 19th, 20th, and 21st centuries. Best known for performing the works of Godowsky, Alkan, and Sorabji, he has received eight Juno Awards and eleven Grammy nominations. He is an Officer of the Order of Canada and serves on the faculty of the New England Conservatory of Music
