Pantera is an American heavy metal band formed in Arlington, Texas, in 1981 by brothers Dimebag Darrell and Vinnie Paul Abbott. After vocalist Phil Anselmo joined, the band developed an aggressive groove-metal sound and released influential albums such as Vulgar Display of Power (1992) and the number-one record Far Beyond Driven (1994). Guitarist Dimebag Darrell was fatally shot on stage in 2004.
