The experience
What's special
The Bach Festival Society of Winter Park holds its 92nd annual festival through February 2027 in Knowles Memorial Chapel on the Rollins College campus, led by conductor John V. Sinclair with the Bach Festival Choir, which has sung in the Orlando area since 1935. It opens on February 5 with Music for the Night by the Bach Vocal Artists, followed by a free organ recital by Ken Cowan, the free Third Annual National Oratorio Competition, and Concertos by Candlelight: Brahms and Beethoven. On February 21 a Beethoven Sacred Send-Off marks 200 years since his death by recreating the music of his memorial service, centered on Cherubini's Requiem, and the festival closes on February 28 with Bach's St. Matthew Passion.
How it works
Evening events start at 7:30 PM and the two Sunday oratorios at 3:00 PM. Each ticketed concert sells general admission ($25 to $30) or reserved seats from $45 to $85, and the organ recital and oratorio competition are free. The society says its festival events often sell out, and subscribers are guaranteed admission. Parking is in the Rollins Truist garage on East Lyman Avenue, where a golf cart shuttle runs to the Chapel from an hour before each performance. Chapel balcony seats are up a stairway only.
