The experience

What's special

The Tucson Baroque Music Festival is Arizona Early Music's winter weekend of baroque instrumental music, led by festival director and keyboardist Avi Stein, associate organist and chorus master at Trinity Wall Street and a teacher at The Juilliard School. His ten-piece period-instrument band, the TBMF Chamber Players, draws players who also perform with Apollo's Fire, ACRONYM, Tafelmusik and the Boston Early Music Festival Orchestra. The 2027 programs are At the Court of Versailles, with Lully, Couperin, Rameau and Rebel, on Friday, January 15. Bach Among Friends, including the Orchestral Suite No. 1 in C major, on Saturday, January 16; and Handel's London, with Geminiani and Avison, on Sunday, January 17.

How it works

Each concert costs $35 and a pass for all three is $90; at the door, tickets for anyone 30 and under are $5. Tickets are sold online through Zeffy, which suggests an optional platform contribution at checkout that can be changed to $0, and at the door by cash, check or card. Seats are not reserved, so arriving when the doors open 45 minutes early gives the best choice, and most concerts start with a 15-minute talk half an hour before the music. Concerts run about an hour and a half to two hours with an intermission, and there is free parking near both churches.
