The experience

What's special

The Beaufort Pirate Invasion is a living-history reenactment of the 1747 Spanish privateer raid on Beaufort, North Carolina, staged along the Downtown Beaufort waterfront by the non-profit Cannon Crew led by Capt. Carl Cannon as Blackbeard. Professional re-enactors, villagers and merchants take over the historic port for a weekend of sword fighting, black-powder cannon demonstrations, a pirate flotilla at Gallants Channel, living-history displays and live pirate music, with a mission to entertain and educate about the golden age of piracy and the town's colonial past.

What people love

Press and attendee accounts describe a lively, all-ages waterfront party: a bright-day skirmish watched from seats along the dock, live pirate music on the porch (a rollicking band, The Motley Tones), a puppet show, and costumed partygoers of all ages line dancing.

Last time around

The 2025 edition's Friday-night Pirates' Parlay in the Park (November 14, 2025) featured live music from the new band Pirates of Taylors Creek and a pirate-themed fire show.
