What happened to Electric Zoo?
The 2023 edition's opening day was cancelled over permit and staging failures and the event was oversold, prompting a class-action lawsuit; the 2024 edition was cancelled. No edition has been held since. Promoter Avant Gardner filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in August 2025 and its liquidation plan took effect in June 2026.

What's special
Electric Zoo is New York City's marquee electronic-music festival, staged over Labor Day weekend on Randall's Island with multiple stages of house, techno, bass and mainstage EDM. Launched in 2009, it built a reputation as the city's biggest end-of-summer rave, drawing a large out-of-town crowd to the waterfront island setting between Manhattan, the Bronx and Queens
Last time around (2023)
The 2023 edition collapsed into one of the most notorious festival failures in recent US memory. Organizers cancelled Day 1 only hours before gates were due to open, citing an unfinished main stage; entry on the second day left some attendees queuing for hours; and on the final day the site hit capacity early after the event was reported to have oversold its roughly 42,500 capacity by several thousand tickets, leaving around 1,500 ticket-holders locked out. Denied fans jumped barricades, crawled under fences and pushed past security, and the chaos drew widespread comparisons to Fyre Festival and the Astroworld crush. A prolonged refund and unpaid-vendor saga followed, and the brand did not return at the same scale afterward
