The Escondido Renaissance Faire, run for more than 20 years by Olde Tyme Productions with an avowed pirate flair, is an intimate faire in the oak-shaded grass of Felicita County Park in San Diego's North County, held twice a year across spring and fall weekend pairs. Guild encampments give it a lived-in feel, with blacksmithing, archery, mock battles, and a participatory costumed archery competition using traditional bows, plus a Pirate Alley among the vendor rows. It has become strikingly popular in recent seasons, with the costume participation rate among the highest anywhere, garb is closer to the rule than the exception
