The Gulf Coast Renaissance Faire is a spring Renaissance faire held at Five Flags Speedway in Pensacola, Florida, first established by Steve Melei in 2001. The same organization also runs the Mobile Renaissance Faire in the fall across the state line in Robertsdale, Alabama. It is a genre mash-up as much as a Renaissance faire: alongside full-armor jousting, swordfighters, falconry, minstrels and belly dancers, the grounds add a Wild West Round-Up with gunslingers, pirate acts, and living craft demonstrations, plus camel and horse rides, a petting zoo, human-powered rides, and games of skill. Costumes are encouraged but not required, and admission is inexpensive compared with the country's largest faires.
