What to eat & drink
The organiser runs an annual Taste of the Fair competition; the 2026 winner was Nitro Hog BBQ's 'S'Mork,' a sweet-and-smoky mashup of a classic s'more and slow-smoked pulled pork served on a fried sugar biscuit. Other named 2026 entries include a Deep Fried Lindor Dubai Chocolate Truffle from Orme Deep Fried Treats, a Hot Cheeto Fried Oreo, and Nashville Hot Fried Pickles.
The experience
What's special
The 169th Indiana State Fair ran August 7 through August 23, 2026, closed every Monday, at the Indiana State Fairgrounds & Event Center in Indianapolis. General admission was published at eighteen dollars, the figure the organiser quotes as its same-day re-entry fee, with no separate child or senior tier found on the pages checked. Gates opened at eight in the morning most days (six thirty on the fair's second Saturday) and ran to eight at night, with building hours continuing to nine. Carnival rides were sold entirely apart from gate admission: a forty dollar all-day wristband valid only on set Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and the fair's closing Sunday, individual tickets at fifty cents each, and the Ball State Skyride priced separately again at seven dollars fifty for fifteen one-way tickets. The fairgrounds are unusual among state fairs in offering year-round RV camping to the public at the Monon Campgrounds, with full hook-up sites available April through October
What people love
An annual Taste of the Fair competition names a single winning dish each year; the 2026 champion was Nitro Hog BBQ's 'S'Mork,' a fried-biscuit mashup of a s'more and slow-smoked pulled pork, judged among entries that also included a Hot Cheeto Fried Oreo and Nashville Hot Fried Pickles
Last time around
The 2025 (168th) Indiana State Fair drew a final attendance of 854,977 over its 15-day run, a slight increase on the 2024 total of 854,236; no 2026 attendance figure had been published in the press releases checked at the time of this capture
