Love Shine Play Festival comes to Asheville, NC, Expected July. Froligo tracks current ticket prices, attendee feedback and travel details.

What it stands for

The festival states that it believes in the transformative power of yoga and wellness, that life can feel overwhelming and challenging and that it is there for all of it, "the mess and the magic", and that it is committed to creating a container of beauty and wonder bringing together master teachers and curious practitioners for connection, inspiration and rediscovering the magic of being. It presents itself as deliberately of Asheville, showcasing the city and its independent businesses rather than retreating to a private site. Giving back is a stated value: the festival supports Bloom Fitness, which provides health and wellness for adults in the intellectual and developmental disability community, and runs Umoja, described as a container for every body, with the stated belief that an event like this should be open, accessible and safe for everybody and an acknowledgement that not everyone has been equally represented in yoga spaces across the US. The Umoja Lounge was created in collaboration with Kennae Miller of Transformation Yoga SC. A scholarship programme offers full and single-day tickets to people who might otherwise be unable to attend

The experience

What's special

A four-day yoga and music festival that uses downtown Asheville itself as the venue. Rather than one site, classes run in hired halls, theaters and studios scattered across the city centre, and the free Mountain Air Market in Pack Square Park at the Vance Monument acts as the hub, with 50+ vendors, food trucks, body work, a hospitality tent, the House of Joy tent and the Magic Meadow terrace. The market is open to the public at no charge, so a large part of the festival is walk-up. The 2026 programme carried 149 scheduled items across 16 venues: yoga classes, live-music yoga classes, sound healing, meditation, lectures and panels, Ayurvedic marma treatments, 1:1 private sessions, three-hour Thursday immersions and outdoor add-ons including a sunset hike, stand-up paddleboard yoga and a sauna and cold plunge evening with a live DJ. Nearly all of the schedule was tagged all levels, and the festival builds 30 to 60 minutes between sessions so attendees can walk, eat and rest

What people love

Attendee quotes published by the festival itself praise the balance of the three words in its name and the way it uses the city. One reads "All the love love love. . Lots of shine and lots of play, but the love was greatest." Another credits the festival with helping the writer remember how to find joy in themselves, in the ordinary and in the challenge. A third says "You attract the most fabulous teachers & students. . You incorporate the locals of Asheville & showcase the beauty that is the city."

Last time around

The 2026 edition ran July 23 to 26 and was billed by the festival as its 8th annual. It opened on the Thursday with four three-hour immersions, a sunset hike and a kick-off kirtan concert by Sean Johnson & The Wild Lotus Band at the Masonic Temple Theater, then ran three full days of classes across downtown venues with the Mountain Air Market open Friday to Sunday. Headline presenters included Janet Stone, Faith Hunter, Seane Corn, Sianna Sherman, Richard Freeman & Mary Taylor, Matt Giordano, Eoin Finn, Kali Basman, Coby Kozlowski, Tymi Howard Bender and Danni Pomplun, with music from DJ Drez, Marti Nikko, Masood Ali Khan, Sol Rising, Luna Ray, Khaki Martin and Billy Zanski. A Saturday panel, The Journey From Mat to Manuscript, gathered eight of the presenters. The weekend closed on Sunday afternoon with Eoin Finn's Blissology: Embody Your Future

The practice

Who it's for

all levels. The 2026 programme tagged 87 of its scheduled items All Levels, 8 Beginner/Intermediate, 7 Intermediate and 1 Beginner, so the great majority of the schedule was open to any experience. The festival describes its presenters as offering a wide range of workshops, classes and discussions across styles including yin yoga, Ayurveda, dance, sound and bhakti. Alongside gentle work (Yin, Restorative, Nidra, sound baths, seated meditation) the schedule carried demanding sessions such as Handstand: The 4 Secrets, Arm Balances: Unlock Your Potential, True Core and Fire Power Flow, plus three-hour Thursday immersions and half-day outdoor add-ons (a sunset hike and stand-up paddleboard yoga). Every session had a limited capacity, with waitlisted or space-available attendees admitted 5 minutes before the start if there was room

Accessibility & comfort

What the organiser or venue publishes about getting around, and what they do not.

Disability accessNo formal accessibility statement was published on the pages captured. The layout is unusually access-friendly for a festival in that it is pedestrian-scale and downtown, with classes in established indoor buildings and multiple parking decks marked on the festival map, but several venues are described by floor (The Venue Balcony upstairs and Mezzanine downstairs, the Masonic Temple Ballroom, Theater and Front Balcony), so step-free routing should be confirmed with the organiser at [email protected]
Quiet & supportThe Serenity Lounge in Mountain Air Market, and the Umoja Lounge, described by the festival as a space for presenters and attendees to connect and reflect, created in collaboration with Kennae Miller of Transformation Yoga SC
Shade & heatAll class venues are indoors. The Mountain Air Market in Pack Square Park is outdoors and includes the House of Joy tent, an Umbrella Canopy, the Magic Meadow lower terrace and a Serenity Lounge
ChildrenThe Magic Meadow area of Mountain Air Market runs kid-zone-friendly sessions including Hula Hooping 101, Kids Yoga and Aerial Kids, and a free community class titled The Art of Play: A Kids Yoga Experience ran under the Umbrella Canopy

Recovery and comfort. Four days of walking between downtown venues on top of a heavy practice load, in an Asheville July. The festival provides filtered water at every venue and asks attendees to bring their own bottle, and it does not provide props, so a mat, strap, blocks and a bolster are on the attendee. One session is tagged "Bring a Bolster if Possible". The organiser's own packing list adds good walking shoes, sunscreen, a hat, snacks, a light jacket or wrap and a journal, and suggests an umbrella and a cooling mist fan for what it calls a temperate rainforest with unpredictable weather. Schedule gaps of 30 to 60 minutes between sessions are built in for rest and food, and the programme itself offers recovery-shaped options: Yin, Restorative, Nidra, sound baths, a sauna and cold plunge evening, and a Serenity Lounge and Body Work area in the market

Shop links may earn Froligo a commission; they never change the price you pay.

Teachers & presenters

Roster from the July 23 to 26, 2026 edition, the most recent held; no 2027 roster is published. The 50 named presenter profiles come from the festival's own Sched directory; the remaining entries are billed on individual sessions or on the official Mountain Air Market page without a Sched profile page

Plus the rest of the 73+ teachers, practitioners and speakers across the weekend.

Mountain Air Market

The market is the festival hub, at the Vance Monument in Pack Square Park, and is open to the public free of charge with no festival pass needed. The festival advertises 50+ vendors alongside the Serenity Lounge, hospitality tent, body work, food trucks, free community classes and live music. Market hours for 2026 were Friday 12pm to 7pm, Saturday 10am to 7pm and Sunday 10am to 4pm.
