What's special
The Manassas Viking Festival was a free, family-friendly Norse-heritage day that ran through Historic Downtown Manassas each May, from its first year in 2018 through at least 2023. Staged from the Harris Pavilion down West Street to the Manassas Museum lawn, it built a walkable Viking encampment with multiple reenactment groups, longship displays trucked in from the Longship Company and Philadelphia's Leif Erikson Society (including a 40-foot Norseman ship), birds of prey, fencing and archery demonstrations, a kids' program, and Celtic and Nordic music and dance at the pavilion, ringed by Viking- and Norse-themed vendors. A later edition was cancelled after organizers cited rising city costs, and the event's current status is uncertain.

Attendees remembered it as a good and growing small festival, notable for drawing genuinely high-quality Viking reenactors and period kit onto the streets of a US city, alongside the crowd-pleasers of music, dancers, food trucks, and the longship that visitors could photograph. How do I get to Manassas Viking Festival?

Historic Downtown Manassas is one of the region's genuinely rail-served districts: the Manassas train depot sits right in the festival footprint, served by VRE's Manassas Line (weekday commuter service to/from Washington DC) and by Amtrak (Northeast Regional, Cardinal, and Crescent trains stop here). Arriving by train drops you a short walk from the Harris Pavilion. From the airports, take a taxi/rideshare or Metro-plus-VRE combination to reach the line

From DCA you can take Metrorail into the DC system, but reaching Manassas by transit still requires connecting to VRE's Manassas Line or a Prince William OmniRide bus, there is no single-seat metro ride to Manassas. Practical mainly for weekday travel, since VRE is weekday-only; on a weekend festival day a taxi/rideshare or driving is simpler

Historic Downtown Manassas has a public parking garage and surface lots that are free on weekends, a short walk from the Harris Pavilion. As a free downtown street festival there is no dedicated event lot; arrive earlier in the day for the closest spaces
