South Dakota Yoga Gathering returns to Rapid City, SD, Jun 26 to 27, 2027. Froligo tracks current ticket prices, attendee feedback and travel details.

The experience

What's special

A two-day regional yoga gathering on the floor of the Stratobowl, a cliff-ringed natural bowl in South Dakota's Black Hills where Spring Creek winds past the session lawn. Saturday is the heart of it: an intention ceremony, four session blocks from sadhana practice to Buti and tantra, a lunchtime makers market, a communal kitchari dinner and a creek-side celebration of kirtan-style singing and ecstatic dance. Sunday is an optional integration day of breathwork and cold therapy, journaling, cacao and the swimming hole. Teachers and practitioners come from across SD, WY, ND, NE, MT, CO and MN

What people love

The organizer frames it around welcoming community, and its own gathered testimonials describe an inviting, non-competitive atmosphere (first-party, so not used for scoring)

Last time around

The 10th annual gathering ran June 27-28, 2026 at the Stratobowl with 15 named teachers and hosts, a full-day Saturday of paired sessions plus market, communal dinner and ecstatic dance, and an optional Sunday integration day with breathwork and cold therapy, a Founding Mothers midday journey and a cacao flow session. Tickets ran $188 Saturday / $277 both days

The practice

Who it's for

all levels. The organizer describes "a variety of sessions and topics and classes for all levels"; the structure (one-hour sessions with breaks, optional integration day) keeps the weekend accessible

Buti
Tantra (Introduction to Tantra)
Nyasa
Kundalini (past editions)

Breathwork, chanting and repeated movements aimed at energy and focus more than a workout.

Yoga Nidra (past editions)

Guided lying-down meditation on the edge of sleep. No movement at all.

Beyond the mat

  • meditation
  • breathwork
  • cold therapy
  • sound (gong, sound bath in past editions)

Accessibility & comfort

What the organiser or venue publishes about getting around, and what they do not.

Disability accessNo accessibility statement was published. The venue is a canyon-bottom meadow reached by a drivable road (the organizer's address routes cars to the bottom, not the rim trail), so attendees can drive to the site itself; surfaces are field grass. Contact the organizer for specifics
Quiet & supportThe Sunday "Integrate" day is explicitly built as unhurried spaciousness: forest trails, the swimming hole, group discussion, massage and bodywork
Shade & heatOutdoor canyon-floor site along Spring Creek; the packing list tells attendees to check the forecast and bring layers, sunscreen and bug repellent

Yoga Mat
Any Other Yoga Props You Like
Camp Chair
Blankets

Rentals sell out and shared mats are thin. Bring a grippy, cushioned mat you trust for a full weekend of practice.

Shop options
Four reusable water bottles in a rowWater and electrolytes

Vigorous flows plus dry, high-altitude air dehydrate fast.

Shop options
Stack of folded flannel shirts in blues and greensWarm layers

Studios and shade run cool between sessions even when the sun is hot.

Shop options
Recovery and comfort. Recovery is programmed into the weekend itself: a collective savasana and closing ceremony end Saturday, and the optional Sunday runs at integration pace with cold-water therapy, the creek swimming hole, massage/bodywork and forest bathing. The packing list covers the rest: camp chair, blankets, water bottle and coffee/tea mug (hot drinks flow from the kitchen), swimsuit and towel for the creek, layers, sunscreen and bug spray

Drive via US-16 (follow the organizer's exact directions)about 30 minutes from RAP

The Stratobowl is at the bottom of Spring Creek canyon off US-16 between Rapid City and Rockerville.
