The weekend is bookended by community traditions - a Thursday Buccaneer Ball where the year's Pirate King and Queen are crowned, a Friday guided pub crawl through the island's bars, and a porch-decorating contest across town - and the whole island leans into the theme, with pirate flags and costumes everywhere. The 2026 festival is the 22nd annual.

Savannah's Amtrak station (2611 Seaboard Coastline Drive) puts the East Coast rail corridor within reach: Silver Meteor and Silver Star run daily in each direction, the Palmetto three times weekly. The station is on Savannah's west side, so plan a rideshare or rental for the remaining ~22 miles east to Tybee, no train or public bus continues to the island

The festival runs a complimentary shuttle around Tybee Island on Friday 5-11 pm and Saturday 11 am-11 pm (paused during Saturday's parade). It serves the North Beach Lot and other island stops, so you can park anywhere on Tybee, or stay anywhere on the island, and ride to the south-end festival grounds. Prepay via Park TYB app (Passport), pay-on-arrival mobile parking, not a reservation system. The festival occupies the Strand/South Beach lot itself, so that lot is the venue, not parking. Park in the 14th Street lot, on-street city spaces, or the North Beach Lot and ride the free festival shuttle (Fri/Sat). All island parking is paid via the Park TYB app or meters; Butler Avenue closes for Saturday afternoon's parade, so arrive before staging or expect detours
